The clocks went forward the night before and the weather was as wet and windy as you could imagine but, on Sunday 29th March, the Clarendon Team from Oxford donned their trainers and ventured out in the rain for the OX5 Run at Blenheim Palace.
Sponsored by Allen Associates for the seventh year running, the run started in 2003 to raise money for Oxford's Children's Hospital, helping to provide the facilities and equipment needed to support young patients and their families.
The morning began with a Zumba warm up from local instructor George Martini. Thankfully, most of the team's running was better than their dancing! When it was time for the race to start, former Arsenal and England footballer Martin Keown sounded the klaxon with help from 10 year old Magnus Cameron who has visited the hospital several times.
Spirits were high and the team all finished the race with smiles on their faces, despite the hilly route and slippery ground doing their best to slow the team down. Everyone finished the 5 mile run in less than 90 minutes and overall the team raised more than £1,500 for the charity.
Julian Cooper, Managing Director of Clarendon Business Centres, also drove up from Bournemouth especially for the event and finished the race in an impressive 41:29.
The OX5 Run has raised more than £750,000 for Oxford's Children's Hospital over the years and it was great to get involved and do our part. Now the team's got a taste for running, bring on next year!
